American Ambassador to Cambodia William Todd visited the Harpswell Foundation Dormitory and Leadership Center at Teuk Thla in June.
The Center is part of the Foundation's ongoing efforts to provide education, housing, and leadership training to children and young women in this developing nation.
In the 1970s, the Khmer Rouge destroyed the country's education system. Today, the Harpswell Foundation focuses on creating new opportunities for women to help build the next generation of leaders as shown in this video:
In June 2005, the Harpswell Foundation completed a four-room primary school building in the village of Tramung Chrum. A scholarship program helps graduating sixth graders attend secondary school. Their Leadership Centers are helping women to receive a college education.
The Harpswell Foundation is one of several "girl education" initiatives supported by GreaterGood's Gifts That Give More program and The Literacy Site.
