Animal rescue event allows pooch owners to jog with their dog

If there's one thing our adorable dogs love to do, it's get some exercise! Canines are naturally keen to run and enjoy the outdoors, while us humans often have to work to get our butts to the gym.

The Animal Rescue League in Marshalltown, Iowa, is sponsoring an event that can help both pooches and their pets get in a good run, according to the Times-Republican. The Dog Jog, which will take place this Saturday, May 1, is a two-mile run in which both pets and people can participate.

"With the local leash law, there aren't a lot of opportunities to be able to bring dogs to local events," Missy Sharer, Dog Jog committee co-chair, told the news source. "So this is a great outing for a good cause, and it's a good morning to go for a nice walk with your pet."

Every dog owner should consider taking their beloved pup out for some fun in the sun. Experts believe that dogs that get exercise may rest more calmly at home and are likely to improve their bone and joint health.
