Animal rescue workers save pets from a storm drain

Two dogs and a cat became stuck in a storm drain recently, prompting animal rescue officials to mobilize and work to save the three pets, ENCToday.com reports.

The two pooches were chasing the stray feline when the cat went down the drain and they followed him. The three animals eventually became stuck and required the assistance of a team of animal rescue workers and some heavy machinery to get them out.

The canines, Bear and Tiger, belonged to Adam and Ann Mattocks' grandsons. Although Adam Mattocks witnessed the two descend into the storm drain and tried to coax them out, he eventually had to call experts to help him.

Animal Control Officer Natalie Chandler was the first one to arrive on the scene and began to try and get the pups out with some treats.

"We started off with bacon strips," she told the news source. "My boss came out and two other officers. They gave up and left, but I decided to stay."

After four hours, the three rascals were pulled to safety. The dogs were returned to their owners and the cat was taken to a local animal shelter to be examined.

According to the Humane Society, six to eight million animals enter rescue shelters every year.ADNFCR-2796-ID-19918578-ADNFCR
