A group of Broadway veterens used their vocal chops to help a local animal rescue
shelter, according to BroadwayWorld.com.
The star-studded event Broadway Unleashed, which was produced and co-hosted by Mamma Mia! actress Judy McLane, took place this past Monday at Trattoria Dopo Teatro in Manhattan. Other dog and cat-loving divas present at the affair included Bernadette Peters and Chita Rivera.
McLane, who obviously loves to belt out tunes as well as hear the sound of a happy dog barking, couldn't stop gushing about the animal rescue organization.
"Sean Casey is an awe-inspiring not-for-profit shelter that rescues and finds homes for dogs, cats and small animals, but also exotics and special medical cases across the country," she told the news outlet.
The animal lover also didn't hesitate to point out irony of the situtuation.
"It's a perfect fit - Broadway performers raising their voices to be the voice of animals in need," she told the news outlet.
The Humane Society reports that up to eight million dogs and cats are put in shelters every year.
