Children can get up close and personal with their furry friends

As the summer approaches, many parents are searching for ways to keep their kids entertained and occupied while school is out. An animal camp is the perfect solution for students who love their furry friends, reports the Calgary Herald.

Camp Pet a Bow-Wow, a week-long camp that runs throughout the summer, is offered by the Calgary Humane Society.

"It's great for kids who are super interested in animals and want to be involved in different ways," Desiree Arsenault, the humane education coordinator of the humane society, told the news source.

Children get to interact with the animals while also learning about their habitats and how to safely handle different creatures.
There are also summer camps aimed at children who prefer more exotic animals, like ones that can be found at the Calgary Zoo.

Children who attend the camp will have the opportunity to explore different areas of the zoo while also learning about conservation efforts.

These camps are not just exclusive to Canada. There are many different animal summer camp programs throughout the United States, like the one run by the San Francisco SPCA, in which children are given hands-on experience with animals while also sitting through talks with animal expertsADNFCR-2796-ID-19755543-ADNFCR
