Some pedigree pet owners have dreams of their dog winning Best in Show at a prestigious competition. Of course, Julia LeRoy knew that her new pit bull, Cuda, wasn't exactly blessed in the looks department.
reports that the animal control officer, who adopted the unfortunate looking dog last April, is vying for Cuda to win the strangely coveted title of World's Ugliest Dog at this year's Sonoma-Marin Fair in California. LeRoy is taking donations to help with the $2,500 cost of expenses and even started a Facebook page for her four-legged friend in order to spread the word.
Cuda - given the name because of her likeness to a barracuda - has a huge underbite, a curved spine and paws of different sizes. Still, LeRoy doesn't seem fazed.
"She's just an amazing little dog," she told the news outlet. "Someone wrote to me asking me to stop calling her congenitally deformed and to call her a congenital miracle."
The 2010 winner of the World's Ugliest Dog contest was Princess Abby, a Chihuahua with a missing eye, mismatched ears and especially long hind legs.
