Sometimes it takes a tragedy to realize what matters most to you. Matthew and Reasey Lee from Buford, Georgia can certainly attest to this notion.
According to CBS Atlanta
, the couple recently came home to discover their house was flattened in a tornado. To make matters worse, their 8-year-old pooch, Kirin, was missing.
"The fire chief called me last night and said they did a [search], and they didn't find anything," Matthew told the news outlet.
Fearing the worst but hoping for the best, Matthew returned to his home the next day. It was then that he heard whimpering coming from the rubble and was able to pull his American Eskimo to safety.
The event has left the duo shaken, but thankful.
"I have my husband and my dog, and we're all still here," Reasey told then news outlet. "I mean, everything else can be taken care of."
According to the American Kennel Club, the American Eskimo is often alert, intelligent, and extremely protective of its home and family.
