Dog watched over owner while stranded

The body of a boater who had been missing for four days in South Carolina was found with his dog by his side, trying to revive him, NBC affiliate WYFF News reports.
The boater, Russell Sandlin, 61, was last seen heading out on his boat with his dog, Sadie, a Weimaraner, on Sunday afternoon. Authorities located his body on Wednesday and have concluded that he was likely thrown from the vessel when it ran aground in the shallow cove.
The dog was in perfectly good health, and was trying to remove the branches around her owner and licking his face to wake him up.
"That dog stayed with him the whole time," local sheriff Lee Foster told The State. "Apparently, it never left the side of the man. There were some limbs and branches that entangled the boat, and the dog actually tried to gnaw them and remove them and free him and the boat up."
Sandlin lived in Prosperity, South Carolina, for his job as a marketing and research consultant, but his wife lives in Virginia. She is on her way to South Carolina to take care of Sadie.
