Enthusiastic Crowd Enjoys One Picture Workshop

On July 13, more than one hundred people came to the One Picture Saves A Life workshop hosted by Baldwin Park Animal Care Center in Baldwin Park, CA.

Shelter staff, volunteers, members of the press, and amateur photographers learned how to save more pets' lives with grooming and positive pet photography.

Donna Owens, the only certified John Paul Pet groomer in the US, demonstrated how to use John Paul Pet's line of shelter friendly, waterless products by grooming one of the shelter's dogs.

Underwater Dogs photographer Seth Casteel followed with a high energy talk on how to use positive photography in order to improve the overall image of rescue and adoption and increase adoption rates. Casteel was joined by special guest Jackson Galaxy from Animal Planet's My Cat From Hell. Jackson discussed cat behavior and working with cats at shelters in order to increase adoptions and raise quality of life.

In the afternoon, staff from eleven local shelters received one-on-one training with Casteel. Each participating shelter was given a camera, Photoshop Elements, and John Paul Pet grooming products courtesy of One Picture Saves A Life sponsors.

Some special guests at this workshop included John Capra, founder and co-owner of John Paul Pet (an One Picture sponsor); Greg Hesterburg, president of The Animal Rescue Site (an One Picture sponsor); Meg Heigl from the Heigl Foundation; Tanille Carter from Found Animals Foundation; and Ernie Slone, editor of Dog Fancy and Cat Fancy, two leading magazines for pet lovers.

Slone gave the workshop a very positive endorsement: "We know at Dog Fancy that it is not enough to just share information. It is so much more effective to have humor and energy and in some ways even entertainment. And you have to have the goods, vital information, presented in a way that is accessible and in a scope that is manageable. One Picture has all that and more"

The One Picture Saves A Life tour continues with the next stop at Santa Barbara County Animal Services in Santa Maria, CA, on July 27. Other stops in 2013 will be in Chicago, IL, in August and Charlotte, NC, in September. Registration is now open for all three workshops at
