Dr. Graham Ogle, general manager and co-founder of the International Diabetes Federation's Life for a Child program, received the Harold Rifkin Award for Distinguished International Service in the Cause of Diabetes at the American Diabetes Association's 73rd Scientific Sessions in June.
The Life for a Child program now helps more than 11,000 children in forty-three countries, providing them with essential care including insulin, test strips, expert diabetes education. Under Dr. Ogle's direction, the program has empowered local champions in diabetes centers and associations as well as increasing international awareness and support for the treatment of childhood diabetes.
Life for a Child, directed by Academy Award-nominee Edward Lachman, was produced by the International Diabetes Federation and Eli Lilly and Company to raise awareness of the devastating impact of diabetes worldwide.
