It goes without saying that most pet parents would do anything to protect the four-legged members of their family. Of course, once in a while, our animals put themselves in the line of fire to save us from harm.
Samantha, a pit bull from Phoenix, Arizona, is one such heroic dog. The Daily Courier
reports that it was years ago that the adorable pooch tried to protect her past owner, a homeless man, from a ruthless knife attack. Unfortunately, the man died and Samantha was put up for adoption.
That was when Mike Stephens and Janet Cook spotted her on PetFinder.com and knew they had to welcome her into the family.
"I saw this face, read her story and thought, 'What this dog went through, and she still loves people,'" Stephens told the news outlet.
The news source reports that Samantha is now resting comfortably at home and adjusting to a brand new routine.
Although Samantha's story is touching, she isn't the first pooch to save her pet parent's life. In fact, USA Today recently reported on an animal rescue
dog from Kentucky who alerted his owner after their neighbor slipped and fell in her backyard.
