Masquerade party will benefit animal rescue organization

Partygoers and amateur actors are being invited to take part in the Mystery Masquerade Party to be held next week to raise funds for the Animal Rescue Foundation's continued work on building a new shelter.

The Bristol Press reports that the event will take place on October 23, and is adults-only. The evening will feature a murder mystery and masquerade ball which will include dinner, dancing, several raffles and contests and a midnight unmasking.

Judy Schuelke came up with the fundraising idea when she heard that the Animal Rescue Foundation was having to postpone the opening of their new shelter due to funding issues.

"I was upset. It's been two years and I wanted to volunteer there but they said we're not opening yet. We're way short on money. I said 'that's it, I have to do a fundraiser,'" she told the news source.

Schuelke is encouraging everyone to come with festive Mardi Gras type masks to help make the event more enjoyable, and for those who forget their's, she said they'll have extra on hand.

Shelters care for six to eight million animals every year in the U.S., according to the Humane Society.
