The Montgomery County Animal Shelter (MCAS) is receiving recognition for its dedication to animal rescue
initiatives, according to a new report from Care2.com.
The Care2 organization, along with the ASPCA, recognizes on a weekly basis animal shelters that are doing a commendable job. Ultimately, the winning shelter of the America's Favorite Animal Shelter will receive a prize worth $15,000. Voters can offer their input as to which shelter deserves the prize.
As for MCAS, their Diamond in the Ruff program says the following: "Sometimes animals remain in the shelter for months and months for no good reason. We have found that once these animals are placed in homes, they are the most loyal and loving animals. They know you have rescued them and they are so grateful."
Pet adoption should be something that each member of the family is comfortable with, according to the American Humane Association. Among the "Top Ten" checklist for cat adoption, the Humane Association also recommends that people consider taking home two cats instead of just one. There are more than 93 million cats already in homes throughout the U.S., according to the Humane Society.
