Since 2008, The Animal Rescue Site’s Shelter+ Challenge with Petfinder.com has given more than $1 million to small shelters and animal rescue groups belonging to the Petfinder.com Network. These grants are distributed through GreaterGood.org and Petfinder.com Foundation.
Any shelter or rescue group that is an active member of the Petfinder.com Network can participate in the Shelter+ Challenges, which has become a popular way for small organizations to expand their outreach via social media, email, and other online "campaign" techniques. There are four "voting rounds" per year. The Animal Rescue Site's CEO Tim Kunin has pledged $300,000 to the Challenge in 2012.
Even when the Challenge is not running, The Animal Rescue Site's “Click Here To Give” purple homepage button provides a simple, fast free way to help animal charities. Visitors can click daily to display a series of ads: 100% of the donations from sponsoring advertisers are donated to Petfinder.com Foundation, Rescue Bank, International Fund for Animal Welfare, Fund for Animals, North Shore Animal League America, and other worthy groups selected by GreaterGood.org. Additional funding is provided through shopping at The Animal Rescue Site store or donations received through the Gifts That Give More [tm] program.
Every year, GreaterGood.org distributes more than $1 million in grants to worthy animal charities, including Petfinder.com Foundation which distributes the Challenge grants. To learn more about the Shelter+ Challenge, please click here.
