Newspapers, toys, time are all helpful to animal rescue centers

Whether one has the time, money, desire or simply discarded newspapers, there are multiple ways that one can assist and contribute to animal rescue centers, according to a new report from PetAnim.com.

The North Carolina Animal Rescue Operation (NCARO) is one such non-profit center that urges residents who love animals to consider contributing items such as animal food, toys, cat litter, old towels and even newspapers and wood chips to local animal rescue centers.

According to the NCARO, the current recession is affecting many households who are no longer able to provide for their beloved pets, resulting in higher numbers in animal rescue shelters and greater strains on such organizations' finances.

The NCARO is dedicated to finding "Forever Homes" for its animals. It is also a no-kill shelter open to taking back animals, if anything unforeseen happens, and finding a new adoptive family for every pet, according to the center's website.
