Take Your Dog to Work Day is tomorrow, June 25, and scores of pet parents are getting ready to bring their canines along with them as they hit the daily grind.
The event, which began 11 years ago, aims to spread awareness about adoption from animal rescue
shelters and saving pooches and felines from being put down.
Created by The Humane Society
and Pet Plan
, a health insurance company for animals, companies across the country are being asked to "Go Furry" and allow employees to let their precious dogs hang out in their office or cubicle.
However, those who are bringing Whiskers and Fido along for the ride should take some precautions. Experts advise people to pet-proof their work space and make sure harmful objects aren't on the ground. Also, other employees should be taken into account, and pet owners should find out if their coworkers have serious animal allergies.
No matter what, the day is bound to be a treat for anyone involved. In fact, according to a recent CNN.com survey, 75 percent of people said they would work longer hours if they could bring their pets to the office.
