Petfinder.com celebrates 15 years of adoptions

Petfinder Birthday Event

Over the last fifteen years, Petfinder.com has evolved into the largest online searchable database of adoptable pets and has helped facilitate more than 17 million adoptions. To celebrate, Petfinder.com will host its first ever "Big Birthday Adoption Event" from July 15 to July 17 with a goal of finding homes for 15,000 pets.

"Petfinder.com is the only animal welfare organization with a network this large, so we decided it was time to bring everyone together at one time to hold adoption events from state to state, coast to coast," said Betsy Banks Saul, who founded the organization with Jared Saul in 1996.

Approximately 1,500 shelters and rescue groups have agreed to participate by hosting an adoption event during the timeframe at their facility, or by joining together with other adoption organizations in their community. Families can visit Petfinder.com to see a list of participating shelters and rescue groups near them.

People who are not able to adopt a pet but still want to help are encouraged to make a donation or spend time volunteering at their local shelter or rescue group. They can also find a number of ways to spread the word about this event at the Petfinder.com Birthday page.

"I am beyond excited to watch the weekend adoptions unfold," said Banks Saul. "We could not be more thrilled to be celebrating our birthday in such a monumental way."

Every click on the purple "Click Here To Give" button at The Animal Rescue Site creates a donation for the Petfinder.com Foundation, which provides grants to shelters and rescue organizations in the Petfinder.com Network. Visitors to the website can also vote for their favorite Petfinder.com Network shelter in The Animal Rescue Site's $300,000 Shelter+ Challenge with Petfinder.com. Donations can also be made to such Petfinder.com Foundation programs as Hide, Perch, and Go boxes for cat rescues, training for shelter dogs, and Rescue U at The Animal Rescue Site store.
