Dog lovers everywhere tuned in to watch one of the most important football games of the year on Sunday. For the eighth year, Animal Planet
put on the Puppy Bowl, a ball game complete with playbacks and game highlights, with teams made up entirely of puppies.
But in addition to providing an adorable show for Super Bowl viewers, the Puppy Bowl was an opportunity for the players to find their forever homes. All "players" were chosen through Petfinder.com, a national pet adoption website. The pups came from 32 animal rescue
shelters across 20 states, bringing national attention to the puppies and their humble homes. The Huffington Post
reports that one of the puppy players, Anthony, a pit bull/hound mix, found its forever home, and all nine of its littermates were also adopted, likely as a result of Anthony's fame.
Anthony, from a shelter in Linden, New Jersey, was spotted by Karen Luberto and her son Raymond, 9. They went to a preliminary taping of the Puppy Bowl and bonded immediately with the pooch.
