Say what you will about Kelly Bensimon, star of "The Real Housewives of New York City," but don't knock her animal rescue
The beautiful drama queen just adopted an adorable three-month-old Lab-mix puppy and named her Chief, according to PeoplePets.com
"She'd been looking for a Lab, and since she lives nearby, she often comes in to visit," Jenn Bristol, Animal Haven's director of operations, told the news source. "We told her we'd help her find a Lab mix rescue."
Chief made her way to the animal rescue shelter
from Missouri and was brought to the New York area by Pilots N Paws, an organization that matches up needy pups with willing pilots.
Bensimon's heartwarming act may help spread the word about adopting an animal rather than heading to a pet store. Unfortunately, between three and four million cats and dogs are euthanized in animal rescue shelters every year.
"We're happy that Kelly and her family opted to adopt and not buy, since there are so many homeless animals out there," Bristol told the news outlet.
