The Animal Rescue Site's CEO Tim Kunin traveled to North Carolina this month to help out at Rescue U's latest rebuilding project at the Carolina Waterfowl Rescue.
Following the tornadoes of 2012, the organization needed almost $60,000 to replace lost pens and other facilities. Through The Animal Rescue Site's sponsorship and volunteer labor provided by Rescue U, the sanctuary got a new barn, fencing, turf laid, and much more.
Rescue U is a program of the Petfinder Foundation, a longtime charitable partner of The Animal Rescue Site.
At the end of a long day of building feed boxes, Kunin presented a check for $5,000 to CWR executive director Jennifer Gordon to keep the ducks, geese, and other birds there well fed this winter.
The Carolina Waterfowl Rescue is run by federally-licensed migratory bird rehabilitators specializing in waterfowl. They take in more than 1,000 birds a year and close to forty different wild bird species. They also accept domestic or exotic ducks for placement, do nuisance referrals, and offer bird, duck, and goose rescue assistance.
