Harry is a lovable Bouvier des Flandres whose all black fur is punctuated with a patch of white on his chest, and who isn't afraid to walk up to complete strangers and snuggle up to them.
One would never know that four years ago he was on the brink of death while laying on the side of the highway in Missouri, but as The Buffalo News
reports, he was saved by an animal lover who was in the right place at the right time.
Ronnie Podolefsky was driving on that highway in 2006 on her way to a conference when she spotted Harry.
"I stopped alongside the highway and walked over to him," she told the news source. "I carefully picked him up and put him on the front seat next to me, and I thought, 'OK, well, there goes the conference! I have to find a vet!'"
Harry has made a remarkable recovery and now lives with Podolefsky and her other pooch, Mishka.
According to the Humane Society, 47 states treat animal abuse and neglect as felony crimes, which can carry heavy jail terms.
