Sending Dogs to College

Two Dogs Panting

“Students, we're stressed out, don't know what to do, and they're fluffy. It comes down to that."

Today, Dalhousie joins a growing list of universities enlisting help from an unexpected source when they open the doors to their Puppy Room. According to the CBC, the Canadian University will offer access to therapy dogs during the stressful finals week, providing students a reprieve from cram sessions and term papers. Based on the response on social media, Student organizers anticipate long lines of students seeking the canines’ stress-reducing services.

Dalhousie student Michael Kean first proposed the idea after hearing about a similar program at McGill University. And the idea seems to be catching on at universities and colleges across North America, including Harvard Medical and Yale Law School, where stressed-out students have access to a therapy dog at the library.
