A new game for the iPhone and Android seeks to raise awareness about endangered animals
- featuring photos from ARKive and challenging players through a series of facts about endangered species, Gamasutra reports.
The object of the game is to survive as long as possible by playing mini-games that are drawn from animals' individual characteristics - speed, agility, endurance or intelligence, the news source reports. The rewards for beating a level or for high scores are ARKive's photos and hand-illustrated hero characters. While designed for children, all members of the family may enjoy learning about primates such as the crested black macaque, amphibians like the golden frog or African elephants.
Players can complete the phases solo or on a team to reveal the identities of nine of the world's most endangered animals
, according to ARKive. The game was a collaboration of ARKive with the wildlife conservation and education charity Wildscreen. It is available for free from the AppStore for iPhone and the Android Market.
