South African program protects companion animals

CLAW CLAW provides primary animal welfare support to 37 targeted communities in the greater Johannesburg area and areas west of Johannesburg in the province of Gauteng, South Africa.

Although an increasing number of people keep dogs or other companion animals in these communities, there are no private veterinarians and little or no aid outside of CLAW's efforts. supports CLAW’s mission to give direct care to the pets in these communities. Funding is provided through’s charitable partner International Fund for Animal Welfare.

In 2010, CLAW provided direct care for more than 40,000 companion animals, vaccinated more than 3,600 dogs and cats, spayed or neutered 1,400 dogs and cats, and provided flea/tick or de-worming treatment to 13,00 dogs.
