Springer America donates dog exercise equipment to rescue animal shelters

May is National Bike Month, which means scores of cyclists will be hitting the open road. Still, people with pooches may long to take their furry friends along for the ride.

According to HealthNewDigest.com, now it looks like they can.

The news source reports that Springer America, a company that manufactures handy dog exercisers, has launched the Springer to the Rescue campaign. The promotion is aimed at donating scores of its cardio machines to animal rescue shelters around the country.

"Our goal is to show our appreciation to these great organizations that can use the Springer bicycle attachments to exercise their dogs or as raffles for fundraisers," Springer America President, Kjell Ottesen, told the news source.

The cardio equipment is attached to a bicycle, allowing pet owners to pedal while their dogs run next to them. The product is equipped with a spring that absorbs 90 percent of a canine's unexpected tugs, making the experience safe and enjoyable.

People looking to rescue animals may be doing a great thing for their physical health. According to a study in AARP Bulletin Today, pet owners are more likely to exercise than those who do not have a furry companion.ADNFCR-2796-ID-19759431-ADNFCR
