Steve-O chats about his animal rescue pup, Walter

Steve-O may have made a name for himself for his outrageous shenanigans on the former MTV hit show Jackass, but it looks like the guy is leading a laid-back life at the moment.

In fact, the actor and daredevil recently spoke with PeoplePets.com and couldn't stop raving about his animal rescue dog, Walter. Steve-O (who was born Stephen Gilchrist Glover) adopted the Chihuahua-dachshund mix from the Good Dog Animal Rescue in Santa Monica, California.

"I came by and there's Walter. I picked him up and I looked at him, and I thought, 'I've got news for you Walter Cronkite, you are gorgeous,'" he told the news source.

Aside from melting at the sight of new furry friend, Steve-O is also taking the time to think about animal rights. The actor, who just gave up all meat and dairy products, couldn't be happier with the decision.

"Being a vegan just helps me build up my self-esteem. I feel good about it every time I eat a meal. [It has] benefited every area of my life," he told the news outlet.

According to the Humane Society of the United States, between six and eight million dogs and cats enter shelters every year.
