Urge Australia's environment minister to speak out for these majestic creatures.

Australia's humpback whales need our help. The Kimberley region of Western Australia is in danger of becoming yet another area of large-scale industrial development [1]. But the humpback whales in the area are already endangered and are in desperate need of protection.

Kimberley's humpback whales will be in grave danger if oil giants like Chevron and Shell are allowed to establish their proposed oil-mining refineries [2]. These massive-scale projects would rob them of their habitat, threaten the well-being of the entire Kimberley humpback population, and carry grave implications for their survival.

The whales that reside in the Kimberly region were already on the very brink of extinction in the early 1960s, but they began a delicate recovery process after measures were taken in 1963 to outlaw the killing of these whales [3]. All of this is now being undone by the fossil-fuel industry.

Unless this region of Australia remains as a completely-protected national park, such developments will not only threaten the limited population of humpback whales, but all other wildlife as well.

Write to Australian Minister for the Environment and Energy Josh Frydenberg and ask him to stand up for the whales. Demand a moratorium be put on all gas and oil projects in the surrounding Kimberley region.

The Petition:

To The Honorable Josh Frydenberg, Australian Minister for the Environment and Energy,

I am deeply concerned about the future of the Kimberley region's humpback whale population. Huge oil giants like Shell, Chevron, and BP are threatening to start massive oil and gas projects in the Kimberley region. These refinery proposals could have grave consequences for the whales and other marine life.

The humpback whales seek breeding and feeding territory in the Kimberley, and industrializing the area would severely interfere with their livelihood and natural animal processes here.

Please voice your opposition to these destructive projects and stand up for the Kimberley's humpback whales!

Thank you for your time. Sincerely,
