We need your help to save the whales of the Caribbean!
Despite enjoying a pristine ocean ecosystem teeming with all different types of life — from majestic coral reefs to abundant species of whales — six Caribbean nations continuously vote against whale conservation when it comes time to vote for it at International Whaling Commission (IWC) meetings.
The IWC would like to establish a South Atlantic whale sanctuary, but Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Lucia, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines continue to oppose it. These nations do not support whale preservation.
Tourism makes up a considerable portion of the Caribbean's economy, so keeping the whales safe and healthy is not only necessary for their survival, but also for the Caribbean's.
Write to these island nations telling them to create a sanctuary and save the whales — it's good for them too!
Dear leaders of Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Lucia, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines:
Please stop voting against our whales.
The six Caribbean nations of Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Lucia, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines continuously vote against the safety of the whales in the Caribbean at the International Whaling Commission's meetings. The IWC would like to establish a whale sanctuary that would provide protections for the whales.
Whales are a precious species we need to preserve — and one that also brings in millions of dollars per year to the Caribbean's tourism industry. Blocking protections for the whales only threatens their survival and the Caribbean's economy. It's in your best interest to provide a sanctuary that would keep the whales safe from whaling.
Please vote in favor of the whales at the next IWC meeting. Their survival — and yours! — depend on it.
Thank you for your time.
