My husband and I had been thinking about getting another dog. My two big rescued Labs were getting older and I knew a young dog would perk them up. I was looking for a three or four year old male yellow Lab, and then I saw Angel on the local shelter website.
She had been found wandering loose, starving, pregnant, with an ear and bladder infection. The shelter spayed her and put her into foster care. Angel was black, small, 45 lbs, and if there was any Lab in her, it was hiding, but….I fell in love.
We brought her home and renamed her Ebony – because she was no Angel! The nice shelter people told us she was housebroken, but that turned out not to be the case. We worked with her and she’s very good – most of the time. She fit right into our home and took charge, bossing the bigger dogs around! They don’t seem to mind.
I never wanted a small black dog but Ebony is the love of my life!
