A most amazing dog...

I lost my dog, called Dusty, in February of 2015. After about 3 weeks, at the beginning of March, I found that life was feeling too boring and my apartment was far too quiet. I decided it was time to start thinking about finding another dog.

At first I thought I would look into finding a Pit Bull. I've loved the breed and know how misunderstood they are. I looked and looked but every Pitty I found needed more energy than I could give. You see, I've had 2 heart attacks since I was 40. I then thought about looking for a mixed breed dog weighing about 35-50 pounds. It was always the same thing.

Oh...did I forget to mention that I volunteered at a shelter sitting with dogs, keeping them company or taking them into the "big" room to play. There was a little 10 pound guy named "Chester" who I really enjoyed visiting with. He was so friendly and playful and even loved just sitting in my lap to get lots of lovin'.

I went to the shelter on July 2nd and talked to the adoptions counselor who brought Chester out and let me spend some time with him. After about 2 minutes, I had realized that I had found the greatest dog I could ever hope to find.

We did a class together and that has helped us to bond, we go to our local park and he loves to play with every dog he meets...though he does have his independent streak and will go off on his own for a moment. Everyone he meets thinks he's just the cutest ever and when they say hello, a big smile comes across their face.

I'm glad to have gotten from a shelter, but the question remains..."Who rescued whom?"
