A very special gift.

Early one morning in October of 2008, after a 12.5 hour shift at the hospital, I parked my truck near my house in the pouring rain(we lived in the redwood forest near the beach)- I opened my door and a scrawny little soaking wet dog was standing on her 2 back legs asking to be held. My neighbor, a highway patrolman watched me pick her up, and said "do you want her? She's been out all night and my wife doesn't want her"...I took her to the mgr of our complex, and she said if I didn't want her she would take her, but no she wasn't owned by anyone around us.
I took her home, named her Charlie, (in my confusion thought she was a boy) she was covered in scabs, severe worms, and was very thin-I took her to my vet she had no chip-and they hadn't seen her (in a town of 2000 you know everyone) I had her wormed, spayed, vaccinated, chipped, medicated and wormed again-$800 dollars later she was ours-They thought she had been wandering a long time.

A co worker said she had been out living with a pack of dogs around the elementary school-A Native American friend said when an animal chooses you it is a special gift-She has been the most wonderful dog I have ever had-she has epilepsy now- and on medication but doing very well-she follows me everywhere, keeps our Buster (an anxiety prone Bichon) calm-is smart, obedient and just my sweet little baby girl-even though she is yippy to strangers (but not at the dog park)-The vet said with her feet so torn up she may have been caged as a breeder for awhile. But now she is my gift-and she chose me.
