We got our sweet little Arthur (aka ArtieFartie) from Luv-a-Chin Rescue, headquarted in SD. We wanted a Japanese Chin, and I've always wanted to rescue a dog so we found this group that rescues them from puppy mills. The first night we got him, he refused to pee and stayed plastered to the back of his crate, staring at us. For awhile, he would jump at the slightest noise, even one of us coughing. The difference in him between now and then is amazing. He used to shake and cower when strangers came around, but now he looks on with curiosity. He used to be terrified of being outside, but now he doesn't always want to go back in! He never sat with us, but now he follows me around constantly and cuddles on the couch or in bed at night all the time. He is the joy in our lives and I can't say enough about how grateful I am to Luv-a-Chin for what they do!!
