We saw living in the bushes in our front yard. You look so sweet, but we didn't need another cat. So the discussion was made. We would caught, spay and release you. Keep food and water by the front door for you, but you were not coming in to live! It didn't take long to see you were not a feral cat and wanted love and attention. You would hear me put the food out in the morning and I could hear you meow "I'm coming" two house down. Then the call came at work. You were listless and wouldn't get up from the porch. I came home to find you still laying on the porch and not wanting to move. It didn't take long to find the terrible abscess under your right ear and the swelling all the way around you neck. You didn't even fight us putting you in the carrier or seemed not to care about the hour drive to the vet. Even after their business hours the vet team took you right in and started to work. They would keep you over night and see how it went. An hour later they called, the abscess was sepsis and they needed to do surgery NOW! Four hours later they called and said you were a fighter and you were doing well. We picked you up the next day, our new 4 pound half shaved kitten with 15 stitches, four drain tubes and a bag of medication. What did you do after all this trauma? Curled up in our arms and purred and purred and purred. You have been a welcome addition to our home and a friend to the other "new additions" and a reminder to never give up the fight!
