Bodie - The Love of My Life

I had recently had to put down my 16-1/2 year old yellow lab and I was devastated. My husband tried to find another dog for me right away, but I wasn't ready. One weekend, while traveling to a race, my husband saw a blue freeway sign saying SPCA. He asked me if I wanted to stop and take a look. I couldn't say no. When we entered, I asked the woman at the front desk to show me the dogs who were next on the list to be euthanized. As this was a very rural shelter, she showed me 10 dogs. There were 4 pitbulls, 3 chihuahuas, a really old poodle mix, a young lab mix, and Bodie. Skinny, matted, smelling like he'd recently fought with skunks, and horribly frightened, he walked right up to the front of the cage. He somehow knew I was there to rescue him. My husband, who really thought we would be getting a larger dog, looked at me and said, "That one? The little skinny smelly one?" I said, "Absolutely."

It's been 2 years since that awesome day, and I am forever grateful to my husband for making us stop, as well as to whoever tossed Bodie out like garbage into the world to fend for himself. In my opinion, you truly missed out on the most loving, most beautiful dog in the entire world. He is a true delight and makes me laugh multiple times every day. As everyone asks me what breed he is, I recently ran his DNA and found out he is 1/2 miniature pincher and 1/2 golden retriever. A truly original blend. I call him my "Mini Golden," my best friend, and the love of my life.
