Born to be Queen

My husband picked out this cat at the Humane Society. She was scrawny and frowzy-looking and just lay there staring at us. I couldn't see why he wanted *this* one, she looked a mess. She had been found pregnant out in the world on her own, not even one year old. We brought her home, named her "Prolix" because she was very talkative, and she blossomed into the most gorgeous light-gray Persian mix I've ever seen. Not only that, she ruled the house from the first night she was here.

Lixie's getting older now (16) and she's slowing down and dwindling slowly, her eyes are a little cloudy, her steps a little less sure - but she still rules her domain - just ask the two younger cats! She's a calm, elegant presence and I can't imagine how I ever thought she was "scroungy"! She loves to be brushed, and to sit on my shoulder while I'm reading, purring into my ear. Long Live Prolix!
