One morning we found a tiny cat with a big head cowering under the garbage cans. At first we thought he might have gotten lost, but when he devoured the food and water we gave him, it was clear he had been abandoned, so we carried him back to our apartment and started giving him the love - and the food - he had gone without for so long.
It wasn't easy at first with an un-neutered male cat trying to dominate us and our two female cats. It took 15 months, one surgery and endless cans of cat food to turn Lou into a sweet-natured 15-pound lion who likes playing fetch with a bell toy and begging us to take him with is whenever we go out.
