My husband and I had just purchased our first home. He made a comment that now we could get a big dog to stay inside because we were not allowed to have pets at our apartment. I immediately said no! I love pets, but we had just made a large financial decision and I felt that we needed to save some money first. At my job we have a classifieds email list for people to buy and sell or post different things, and one day a lady that helps rescue pets posted a list of dogs that would be euthanized within a week if not rescued. I knew I shouldn't look at the list, but I did anyway, and there was Harvey! His pound puppy picture won over my husband and I went and picked him up. I didn't have a dog crate to put him in in the car, but I had a family member with me to hold him, but he was so excited that he was all over the place. He knocked my automatic gear shift in the floor out of gear while driving down the road!
His name is Harvey because of the perfect line down his face. My husband is a Batman fan and Harvey Dent (Two-Face) is who he is named after. We have had him for three years now and he is a wonderful addition to our family. I highly recommend rescuing a pet.
The Animal Rescue Site focuses the power of the Internet on a specific need — providing food and vital care for some of the eight million unwanted animals given to shelters every year in the U.S., as well as animals in desperate need around the world. Over four million animals are put to death each year in the U.S. alone because they are abandoned and unwanted.
Each click on the purple "Click Here to Give — it's FREE!" button at The Animal Rescue Site provides food and care for a rescued animal in need.
