In February of 2007, my companion of 13 years, Rebel, a Ridgeback mix, passed away. My youngest son was only 9 and they were best friends. He didn't know life without him. Being a single mom in a kind of isolated rural area, my future husband was adamant I should get another dog and a gun. Also raising my nephew, I felt a gun was not a good idea and I really wasn't ready for another dog but a couple of months later, my oldest son called and said a neighbor had found an abandoned 8 week old puppy in the neighborhood and was searching for a home for it. I agreed to take it temporarily to see how he fit into our family and 5 years later here we are. So my compromise was getting a dog and naming him after a gun. Our best guess is Plotthound and Golden Retriever mix. He is such a willing, gentle, and loving creature, I can't imagine someone just dropping him off. He has found his furever home with us.
