My most recent addition to my family was originally just was my sweet baby foster. Her name is Lexus, She was rescued by Unleashed Pet Rescue and Adoption in Mission, KS, it was the night before a big snow storm and they found her chained behind an abandoned house with another dog. When they first came up to her She was very scared of people we should later find out why the president of unleashed Danielle Reno had to come out to gain her trust because she was fear biting after about 15 minutes Danielle was able to gain her trust. When back at the shelter both her and the other dog with her Applejack were both extremely skinny, and they noticed Lexus was very sensitive about people touching her side she was taken into the vet for xrays where they discovered she had 4 broken ribs. She was starting to do better about trusting people but about a month into her stay she began coughing really bad and refusing to eat about the 3 night me and another kennel worker took her to the emergency vet where they told use that she had severe heartworms one had gotten into her lungs and would most likely not make it through treatment, that night I took her home, the next day my husband got her to eat, and I made a decision to foster her thru her treatment, that I decided to pay out of pocket for she was a fighter couldn't give up on her. She made it thru treatment and is looking great. Me and my husband couldn't give her up we had went thru to much with her and she loves her brother and sister and made our family whole.
The Animal Rescue Site focuses the power of the Internet on a specific need — providing food and vital care for some of the eight million unwanted animals given to shelters every year in the U.S., as well as animals in desperate need around the world. Over four million animals are put to death each year in the U.S. alone because they are abandoned and unwanted.
