In 2003 I found her-a part Maine Coon-wandering in a park across the street from where I lived. I thought maybe she had gotten out from someone's home and couldn't find her way back because she was so friendly and approaching everyone. So I took her to the Toronto Humane Society to make sure that she wasn't lost and had a frantic owner out there somewhere looking for her.

The folks at the humane society estimated her to be about five years old at the time, and said that she was the best kitty they ever worked on. Her feline Highness had some burrs that got stuck to her belly when she was wandering in scrub in the park, and as a result, the hair on her belly had to be shaved. And she just laid there calmly, letting them work on her as though she knew they were doing something for her own good.

I checked in on her everyday and when no one claimed her after a week, I went back and adopted her. Best move I ever made. For four years, she was a companion for my senior Himalayan, Princess, who passed away at seventeen. Mind you in the process between her and Princess I lost a lovely sofa when they clawed it to kingdom come. (lol) But I don't care..I still loved them both. Sofas can be replaced.

And now it's just her and me. She recently even put up with a 2900 cross country car drive when we moved back to Ontario from Alberta, Canada. She's now 15 and still a little slower, but I hope she'll be with me for a few more years than Princess did. I call her my feline angel.
