About 2 years ago our friend of 12 years Saul passed away. Saul was a very large dog. He did not care for other dogs and for most people but we loved him and gave him a good home. When he passed he left a big hole so after a couple of months we decided to start looking for a new family member.
We went to the local shelters and I was very happy to see that all the dogs there were in the process of being adopted. We kept our eyes open for adoption events and kept checking the shelters. One Saturday Petsmart was having an adoption event , so we got up early to make sure we were the first ones there.
I saw Mitzy who was called Bam Bam then sitting in the cage looking like the saddest thing I had ever seen. They took her out of the cage and she took off running, dragging me all through the store. We made our way back and I saw my husband looking at this sweet multi colored dog named Marley in the bottom cage so I decided to ask the girl about her story. The girl's face lit up and she asked if we were interested in her too. She told us that the 2 dogs had been brought in together. My husband and I looked at eachother and whispered that these 2 dogs didn't equal half our other dog so why not. Word spread through Petsmart quickly that we were keeping the dogs together.
Today they are Mitzy and Hazel and I couldn't love them more. I am so happy that we could keep them together and that they will stay together forever.
The Animal Rescue Site focuses the power of the Internet on a specific need — providing food and vital care for some of the eight million unwanted animals given to shelters every year in the U.S., as well as animals in desperate need around the world. Over four million animals are put to death each year in the U.S. alone because they are abandoned and unwanted.
