Just after Christmas a couple of years ago, our family lost our beloved Boston Terrier Zoe, who had been with us for twelve very full, very fun years. We were devastated. We needed another Boston! We understood that another dog would not take Zoe’s place but that he or she would share the love. I spent a lot of time trawling the Pet Finder website. I knew we wanted another Boston female, older would be nice and specifically a rescue to join the rescues we’d already saved. Every time we put in applications, though, the dog would be gone. We finally put in an application on Moxie. She was a small dog with big ears and she had been a stray. We had an appointment to go meet her in Anna, Illinois at Pets Are Worth Saving (PAWS). When we arrived we discovered that another couple had been in the day before and had filled out paperwork before the management discovered that they were not us! We sat down and they let Moxie into the room and she bounced through the door and into my lap! Love at first sight! Moxie is a small slender Boston with a big heart and a big attitude. She moved right into our lives and we love her! We kept her name because it seemed appropriate and we have discovered why she was a stray. Our back yard fence is now fortified against digging! The picture is of Moxie (left) and Nikki, who tolerates Moxie only somewhat better than she tolerates Santa hats and silly humans with iPhones.
The Animal Rescue Site focuses the power of the Internet on a specific need — providing food and vital care for some of the eight million unwanted animals given to shelters every year in the U.S., as well as animals in desperate need around the world. Over four million animals are put to death each year in the U.S. alone because they are abandoned and unwanted.
Each click on the purple "Click Here to Give — it's FREE!" button at The Animal Rescue Site provides food and care for a rescued animal in need. Funding for food and care is paid by site sponsors and distributed to animals in need by Rescue Bank, The Fund for Animals, the Petfinder Foundation, North Shore Animal League, International Fund for Animal Welfare, and other worthy animal rescue organizations supported by GreaterGood.org.
In addition to clicking the purple "Click Here to Give - it's FREE" button, visitors can help more by shopping in The Animal Rescue Site store. With each item purchased, shoppers generate funds for the feeding and care of animals in shelters and sanctuaries.
