My Honey

I already had two dogs but one wanted to play more than the other. So I decided to visit the local humane society shelter to find a playmate. I looked at one dog but we didn't seem to click when I took her to one of the runs. So I looked around some more and noticed a skinny dog curled up in the far corner of the shelter with her back to the cage door. All the other dogs were barking and hyper. I went in there and she woke up after I clicked the leash to her collar. I took her out to the run and sat down. She just sat down in front of me and leaned against me with her entire body. I wrapped my arms around her and just talked to her. She didn't want to run around. She didn't want to visit the other dogs. She just wanted to be held. She finally looked up and gave me a kiss. My mind was made up. It broke my heart to put her back in her cage but as soon as she was in there she went to her dish and ate all her food. She was so skinny I could tell she needed the food badly. I told the staff I wanted her as soon as possible but I wanted to bring my other dogs in to make sure they would get along. I rushed home and got them and returned that same day. I got all three into a run and they got along instantly. I then introduced her to a cat since I had cats as well and she was interested but not hostile. Their policy was to spay/neuter once they were adopted but before they left the shelter so I had to wait a couple days. She had been found on a local golf course and taken to the shelter. She was 18 months old at the time. She 12 years old now and still loves to just sit and lean against me getting hugs
