My Mother's Day Gift

On May 4, 2011, I lost my Tinkerbell, the last of my original seven cats. Tink had been especially devoted, and her absence left a big hole in my heart and my life. I was heartsick, so I decided to get myself another cat, a lapcat like Tinkerbell had been. I did some online research and found that a local rescue had several cats that looked promising. I went up there on Mother's Day and walked into their cat cottage where the cats were walking around freely. I sat down on the floor to let them come meet me. A cute little tuxedo cat pushed her way through all of the other, bigger cats, climbed up onto my shoulder where Tinkerbell had lived and began purring her head off into my ear. I recognized her as BamBam, one of the cats listed on their website that I had decided to not consider as the site said she should be in a one-cat house and we already had my daughter Katie's cat, Cuddles. BamBam was also blind in her left eye, and I was concerned that she would not be able to see our boisterous Cuddles coming from the left. So I put her down gently after a few pets and tried to meet other cats. BamBam followed me from room to room, each time pushing her way through the others to climb back to my shoulder. She had clearly decided that I was hers and I was not leaving without her. Her persistence won my heart, and we took her home. She is my constant companion and has helped to heal my broken heart. Her blind eye makes no difference to me, and it doesn't impair her a bit. I am so thankful she adopted me!
