My senior year of college my now fiance and I started looking for a puppy to adopt. We were turned down by a lot of shelters because we were college students and renters. I was super discouraged and decided to take a break from my search when my fiance called me to tell me about a craiglist ad. There wasn't much information about this mystery puppy but we decided to take the 1.5 hour drive to see her anyway. When we arrived there was this adorable, black and brindle little girl with giant bat ears. It was done, we scooped her up and took her to the pet store to buy her all her supplies. That day we also took her to the vet and found out she was full of worms, fleas and was probably taken from her mama too soon (she had been rescued from an animal hoarder and still suckles on her Build a Bear's nose every night) but with a little TLC Finnula has become the best dog and most loyal companion. She has driven across the country with us (twice - I swear she has pooped in more states than people visit in a lifetime) and is always there when I need her. She is a huge ball of energy (always ready to play) but is happy to just cuddle on your lap and give you kisses too (she will literally kiss you for 10 minutes straight if you let her). About two years ago we adopted her brother, Ramius, and they are as happy as can be. There are so many great pets out there that need homes - don't rule out adoption/rescue! They truly make the best friends.
The Animal Rescue Site focuses the power of the Internet on a specific need — providing food and vital care for some of the eight million unwanted animals given to shelters every year in the U.S., as well as animals in desperate need around the world. Over four million animals are put to death each year in the U.S. alone because they are abandoned and unwanted.
Each click on the purple "Click Here to Give — it's FREE!" button at The Animal Rescue Site provides food and care for a rescued animal in need.
