My husband and I met while walking our dogs Monte (Shih Tzu cross) and Kaya (husky cross). After we got married we accidentally rescued Odie (black lab cross) who had been abandoned in a wooded area of Ohio. We were living in a rental and quickly realized that 3 dogs needed more room. Fortunately we were able to find a house with a really big fenced in back yard. Of course the big back yard = more dogs. We found Dee-O-Gee (Rhodesian Ridgeback cross) from a local rescue organization, Mackenzie (Shepard cross) from another rescue organization who had gone to Georgia after bad storms to save dogs from a shelter down there and last but not least Charlie (Great Dane cross). Charlie is blind and had control issues but being with a pack of dogs really helped him. Along the way Monte and Kaya passed away due to old age so we have the four dogs now but we absolutely adore them. We moved to Vermont and have over 10 acres that they can all run on now. Each one came to us in a different way but they are now our pack and you could not ask for a more loving family!

About The Animal Rescue Site

The Animal Rescue Site focuses the power of the Internet on a specific need — providing food and vital care for some of the eight million unwanted animals given to shelters every year in the U.S., as well as animals in desperate need around the world. Over four million animals are put to death each year in the U.S. alone because they are abandoned and unwanted.

Each click on the purple "Click Here to Give — it's FREE!" button at The Animal Rescue Site provides food and care for a rescued animal in need. Funding for food and care is paid by site sponsors and distributed to animals in need by Rescue Bank, The Fund for Animals, the Petfinder Foundation, North Shore Animal League, International Fund for Animal Welfare, and other worthy animal rescue organizations supported by GreaterGood.org.

In addition to clicking the purple "Click Here to Give - it's FREE" button, visitors can help more by shopping in The Animal Rescue Site store. With each item purchased, shoppers generate funds for the feeding and care of animals in shelters and sanctuaries.
