Our sweet little Annie

I'll never forget getting my very first puppy as an adult! My wife and I drove to a farm a little ways away and found her! She was a 8 week old (so we thought) sweet little brown and white mixed breed. It didn't take us long to realize, however, that upon getting her home she was not well. We spent what seemed like forever sitting out in the yard combing the fleas off of her, and then once we got her inside we realized she wasn't interested in eating and was very lethargic. So, we wasted no time. The next morning, we took her to the vet.

As it turns out, our little Annie had parvo. Not only that, but she also had fleas, mites, and worms (I think that's it). To top it all off, we found out this was not an 8 week old puppy at all..she was actually only about 3 weeks. Well, my wife and I were determined we were going to do whatever we had to do to get her well, it didn't matter that we'd had her only one day, we were already in love. We got out very first credit card and let the vet do what she needed to in order to make our baby girl better. Then came the waiting game.

We honestly were not sure at all she was going to make it. Parvo can be deadly in any dog, and this was a 3 week old puppy! We visited her whenever we could, my wife would sing to her, and as time passed, she seemed to be getting better. I'll never forget holding her and loving on her and then hearing her bark and cry when we would have to leave. It was heart breaking, yet rewarding to know how much she loved us already.

Finally, she was better and we got to take her home! After about 5 different medicines and a few years our 3 week old puppy is now a super-smart 7 year old and the most devoted companion anyone could ever ask for!
