Pazuzu

So I work at the local SPCA and I do a lot of fostering of cats with special needs, feral cats and soforth. And I have a personal attachment to every cat I work with. When Pazuzu came to us, she was already a fairly old girl. One of my co-workers relatives had saved the cat as a stray from her neighborhood. And they had mentioned that the cat had been stray for quite a few years, always hanging around their house. Finally they brought her in and she did okay for the first month or so, but she started losing weight and her hair wouldn't grow (she had to be shaved because of terrible mats). After extensive testing, we determined she had no physical issues, just life in a shelter environment was not suited to her. So I took her home to give her a break, with the intent of bringing her back to the SPCA in a few weeks...but after my husband met her and we saw her not just as a scraggly, beat up looking senior cat, we decided there was no way we could take the chance of her spending the rest of her days in a cage. So we formally adopted our little old lady. And her hair is growing back!! :) We know she is old and we won't have as much time with her as we would like, but it's just a joy to know that when it's finally her time, she will have known true happiness and what it really means to be loved. And that old cats can bring just as much wonder and love to your life as a kitten! :)
