Rescued in a different way

This is Baxter. We didn't go out and rescue him he came to us. We live out in the country and already have 5 pets so we weren't looking to add to the family. However back in July of this year I believe that someone dropped him off at our house. He would sit on our front steps wanting to come in like he was home and had just been outside for the day. We already have an inside dog and cat and my husband didn't want me to let him in so I fed and watered him outside. He would come and greet us when we came home and slept on our front porch. Unfortunately the neighborhood dogs got a hold of him and roughed him up. Even though he is big he is still a puppy and has that puppy mentality and I suppose he didn't look like one to the other dogs even though he just wanted to play with them. That was the straw that broke the camels' back so to speak because as of that day he moved into the house and has been here ever since. Whoever left him here had already housebroke him and he is super intelligent(that is of course his mom's(me) bragging on him). He has a bigger brother Sampson(who is a beagle) and they wouldn't know what to do without each other. Sampson at first didn't like him because he was use to being the only one inside, and didn't like to share his toys. But now they are inseparable. So that's Baxters story. Don't know who or why someone would drop him off here in the middle of nowhere but we are glad they did.
