At the Bellevue shelter, I went looking for a beautiful, colorful female
collie shepherd--just like my dear departed one. But my dog trainer wanted me to give another type of dog a chance. So as the big, black and white male seemed ok., this "SLAB" springer/lab, spied my husband, ran to him and sat at attention! Hello new doggie!
Cosmos had been kept in a dog run 20 hrs a day, underfed and surrendered twice. Afraid of cars, he was so scared, my husband had to carry him into our house. Now we have had the pleasure of living with the sweet, big hearted Cosmos for 14 years. He shredded and munched his way from kleenex boxes to a refrigerator shipping carton; loves car ride adventures, and walks on the beach. Now at about 16 or 17, instead of springing , Mr. Slo-mo sniffs his way along life. He loves our 2 adopted shelter cats and cheerfully chases them once in the morning and just once at night. Then they all settle down for a nap together and perhaps a licking festival. Shelter animals shelter our hearts!
